Traffic and distributor

road proposals

Leicestershire County Council Transport Planner, Andrew Avison said: “We are in the process of developing a wider transport strategy for the town, as part of which we will be considering whether there are interim measures that could be introduced within the town to reduce the initial impacts of growth prior to the distributor road being fully built out.”

If National Government support the business case by making the required funding available, the scheme could be delivered by 2021/22.

The Melton Local Plan has addressed the need to relieve traffic congestion in town by proposing two new roads to the north and south of Melton Mowbray.

Funding for the MMDR was approved on Thursday 17th May 2018 by the Department for Transport. For more information, click here.
