Design Supplementary Planning Document
Melton Borough Council is seeking the views of local communities on the design of new development
The Council is asking local communities to help them develop the detail of the upcoming Design of New Development Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).
This is an opportunity for local people to tell us about the places where they live and what makes them special, as well as what they think are the most important design considerations for new developments in their area.
The Design SPD will set out how new development can be designed to successfully fit into its setting, and reflect local character. It will also cover a wide range of practical design issues such as providing sufficient parking, waste and recycling facilities and guidance to help developers achieve higher environmental standards, including addressing climate change and enhancing habitats and biodiversity.
Get involved and share your thoughts
The Council is planning to hold a series of public engagement events across Melton Borough to help develop the Design SPD.
Everyone is invited to come along and people are welcome to stay for as little or as long as they wish.
Everyone will have the opportunity to learn more about the new document, give their views on design matters in their area and speak with Council officers. They can also meet the professional urban design expert who is helping them to develop the new planning document.
